Canker sores are shallow, painful sores on the soft tissue or membranes of the mouth. They are usually red or may sometimes have a white coating over them. You might get them on the inside of your lips, the insides of your cheeks, the base of your gums or under your tongue. Canker sores are different from fever blisters, which usually are on the outside of your lips or the corners of your mouth.
According to the National Institute of Dental Health some Canker Sores may be caused by a bacterium. It is believed that anyone that has repeated outbreaks may be allergic to some substance in the bacterium's make up. Canker sore suffers should avoid sugar, citrus fruits and spicy foods.
Canker sores are common, can occur at any age, but usually first appear when you are between the ages of 10 and 20 years old. Cold Sores are caused by a form of the herpes simplex virus and are very extremely contagious. Canker Sores can be painful but are not contagious. So you can't spread canker sores by sharing food or kissing someone. Cold sores are almost always found on the lips and do not often spread to the soft tissues of the mouth. They usually pop up alone, but sometimes they show up in small clusters.
Anyone can get canker sores, but women people in their teens and 20s get them more often and it seem to run in families. The genes that families share make it more likely that siblings will develop the Canker Sores, too.
Canker sores may be triggered by stress, dietary deficiencies (folic acid and Vitamin B-12), food allergies, and menstrual periods. Twice as many women as men get Canker Sores. Unfortunately, doctors don't know of anything that prevents canker sores from forming.
You should see your physician if your canker sores are large or last more than 2 weeks, have a fever or you feel sick, can not ear or drink.
Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with treating such Canker sores as Baking Soda, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Iron, L-cysteine, Zinc, M.S.N and Folic Acid.
Baking Soda used as a mouthwash it will help relieve canker sore pain.
Vitamin A is a protector vitamin and is necessary for maintaining healthy skin, bones, and teeth. It is also important for the proper development and health of the eyes.
All of the different Vitamin Bs taken together as B-Complex work together as a team to perform vital biological processes, such as energy production and efficient metabolic function.
Vitamin C is nature's protective nutrient, essential for defending the body against pollution and infection and enhances the bodies' immune system.
Iron is an essential component of hemoglobin, the oxygen carrying substance in red blood cells. Iron is vital for the production of blood. It enhances the immune system. Iron also aids in growth and repair of both bone and tissue by helping the body produce collagen.
L-cysteine is another immune system stimulant but should always be taken in conjunction with Vitamin C to reduce the risk of developing stone formation in the kidneys and bladder.
Zinc is needed for healing and maintaining healthy tissues. Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein and are the vital components of skin, hair, muscle tissue, the body's organs, blood cells, various enzymes and hormones. Zinc also has a profound influence on the body's ability to resist disease.
